Improve Bathroom Lighting With These Simple Ideas
Everyone has a favorite room in the house. If you like watching TV or playing video games, the room with your entertainment center has everything you need. If you relish the creativity of cooking, you have probably fitted out your kitchen with all the latest gadgets and have all your items close at hand. Or perhaps you most look forward to spending time in the one room in the house, which allows you to relax and enjoy some peaceful time to yourself – the bathroom.
Whether your bathroom doubles as a reading room or a spa, it is important that you have the appropriate bathroom lighting. Most bathrooms are wired for an overhead light and another over the sink. If the light above the sink is a single bulb, you can replace it with a bar containing three or four bulbs to increase the amount of light. Lighting bars can be purchased for under $30 at most home improvement stores.
If you get a bar with fixtures that swivel in different directions, you can direct the light to specific points in the room. This is helpful if you need a reading light at times and a makeup or shaving light at other times. To conserve energy, use the new compact fluorescent bulbs, which will save approximately $30 in utility costs over the lifetime of the bulb.
Perhaps a relaxing, scented soak in the tub is your idea of a perfect way to end the day. If so, then you will want to create some ambiance with the light fixtures in the bathroom. A dimmer switch can be purchased for less than $10, and with candles to accompany your private retreat you can experience the same relaxation that you might enjoy at an elaborate spa.
By inexpensively improving your bathroom lighting, you can make this your new favorite room in the house.
