What Use is a Spiral Potato Slicer?
Some kitchens are full of every gadget and appliance under the sun, so much so that you cannot get the mixing bowl you use a lot out of the cabinet for abandoned gadgets getting in the way. Every kitchen appliance looks like the best thing since sliced bread when you first see it and then it ends up gathering dust because it is not quite as useful as you hoped. So do you really want to add to the junk yard of gadgets with a spiral potato slicer? Well, there are some reasons why you might.
If you like presenting your food in novel ways, as well as making it taste good, you will get a lot of fun out of a spiral slicer, although it has no other use than to create long thin ribbons and spirals of varying thicknesses out of hard foods like potatoes, carrots and zucchini.
You may decide at that point that it is pretty much destined not to be used much, but think again. When you serve up curly fries created by your machine to your kids, they will be impressed and who knows, you may never want to make a straight French fry again.
Your salads will look prettier too and your machine will encourage you to use a lot more fresh vegetables, because you can make pretty ribbons and spirals from them.
If the machine was complicated to use then you might not be so keen, but nothing could be simpler. You put in the vegetable, press it against the blade and turn the handle and out pops this great looking produce.
Leave it at the front of your cabinet, or better still on the counter top, and you will use it again and again to liven up many of your meals. Just don’t put it away where it will be awkward to get out, or you might end up forgetting all about it.
