If you know you are expecting a baby girl, you can really go to town decorating your nursery in pink. Of course, you still don’t want to overdo it by decorating absolutely everything in pink, but pink window curtains along with some matching crib bedding are a great place to start.

Once you have the bedding and curtains chosen, you can select the other main items for your nursery in neutral shades which go with the pink color in your bedding. For example, you might decide on a white, cream or natural wood crib, cream or white walls and pale or medium wooden flooring. Then just a few pink accessories will complete the room.

As for the curtain fabric, you can choose between hot pink or light pink curtains or curtains which incorporate another color along with pink in a patterned design. In many ways pale pink curtains are best, as they are so traditional for baby girls. Although you might not believe it now, soon enough your baby girl will grow up and demand hot Barbie pink, so you may as well go for light pink, while you can get away with it.

If you choose simple light pink curtains, you might like to consider pink gingham as this is such a simple, fresh and homely design, perfect for a nursery. You will find whole sets of curtains and matching bedding in this fabric. If you prefer something a bit less traditional, you will also find designs on sale in pale pink and black and pink and brown.

Most of the curtains designed for nurseries are sold as part of matching ranges. Buying the full range can prove quite expensive, but there is no need to do that. Select a few items from the range and then source your accessories such as lamp shades and storage containers elsewhere. If you just buy from a single range you can miss out on some of the prettiest things for your baby.
