without comments

Khakis are great casual pants. Pairing them with the right shoe not be too difficult of a task. At the same time, khakis fit into a category of their own. They are neither jeans, nor dress pants. You don’t need to wear them with dress shoes, nor should you necessarily pair them with sneakers.

Sandals are an option. They transform khakis to the casual side. You want a more formal sandal. A flip flop won’t look polished or like it belongs. Brightly colored sandals are not appropriate, nor are any sandals made with rubber or having a rubber strap. Crocs are a definite do not.

You want more muted colors. Dark neutrals are a great option. Neutrals are simply earth tones. You can go for olive, black, navy, or brown. White is appropriate for some occasions as well.

There are definitely sneakers that can be worn with khakis, but basketball shoes are not one of them. You want your sneakers to be polished. Think of what type of sneakers you would wear when visiting your mother-in-law. Those are the sneakers that will be fine with khakis. You don’t need bold colors or busy logos. A simple pair of sneakers will look nice.

A casual loafer is also an option. Any slip on style casual classified shoe will work well. You don’t need anything fancy or shiny. In fact, wearing something fancy will detract from the look as a whole, so it is really best to keep it simple.

Khakis can certainly be worn in some formal settings, such as to work. To bring them up to snuff, pair khakies with a dressier shoe and a nice blazer in a coordinating color. Patent leather will not look right, but a simple leather shoe that does not shine will look just right.
