Is Email Marketing Still Effective?
The internet, you got to love it. Need to know any thing about any thing? Check the internet, it’s bound to have the answers. The only drawback? You need to know where to look! While the internet has a lot of useful information and answers, it is also filled with a lot of rubbish and misleading information. This can often make it hard to find what you’re really looking for, and hard to trust some of the answers you do end up finding.
One of the things I’ve seen posted up all over the internet recently is how email marketing tactics are no longer effective any more. The argument is that people don’t check their email inboxes as much as they used to , and they mark more and more things as junk these days.
Now if you was to believe all these articles, you may come to the conclusion that there’s no point building a mailing list any more. If you was to come and talk to me and ask me how much I’ve made from my mailing list in the last few months, you would come to a different conclusion however.
The thing is, you shouldn’t take everything you read online as gospel. What has happened in this situation is that one influential marketer has stated they don’t think email marketing isn’t effective any more, and a whole load of that person’s readers started copying what they said on their own blogs without doing their own research. And by research, I mean trying it out for themselves and seeing the results.
As some one who has been email marketing for years and pretty much knows the industry inside out, I can tell you that email marketing is still one of the most cost efficient and effective types of marketing there is. How else would you be able to contact a whole load of people who have previously displayed interest in you with your latest product? You can break news to them instantly and up-sell them with your newest product or service. Any one that stops email marketing from a bit of hear say is seriously going to miss out on some nice marketing opportunities, so it is not advised.
If you yourself are building a mailing list but things aren’t going as you had planned, it may be a good idea to get some email marketing tips. Nothing happens over night, but if you give people a good reason to be on your list and send them quality content you can’t really go wrong.
