With its motion controller technology designed for the Wii game console, Nintendo has certainly dominated the world of video games.  This technology is geared at getting gamers to get up and use their body’s to control the motion of what is actually going on in the game.  Now, Sony is getting ready to launch a very similar product which they call the PlayStation Move and it looks like a more grown up version from the controller for the Nintendo Wii and it supposedly operates without all of the common complaints which many Wii users have been suffering with including its poor tracking for motion and delays which will sometimes affect the flow of action for the game.  Both of these systems are ways in which these companies are attempting to broaden the gaming market.

Microsoft has come out with their new Kinect which is its next generation controller as well as a suite of new Kinect games.  This is unique from what its competition is offering because this motion recognition system operates completely with out a controller.  The xbox 360 Kinect games use a basic type of web-cam style which is an add-on used with the Xbox 360 which will allow a user to be able to control spoken commands and gestures.  This is a completely unique type of motion system which gives the gamer much more freedom.  If this technology works as anticipated, the Kinect will likely be a fantastic function that many gamers will want.

Let’s take a look at this Kinect technology

The Kinect has a horizontal bar which is mounted on a base which has a motorized system to pivot the apparatus.  This system also includes a sensor to pick up depth as well as a multi-array type microphone.  This will enable the Kinect to successfully utilize facial recognition, 3D motion capturing and even voice recognition.  The technology which was showcased at this years E3 or Electronics Expo successfully allowed the demonstrators to play such Xbox Kinect games as Kinectimals all hands free.  The Kinectimals game utilizes the Kinect technology to provide simulated contact with the user’s virtual pet.  Other types of mainstream games like Fablee III will use the Kinect technology as well and the number of Kinect games will grow even more.  The capability of using voice recognition will be released in the United Kingdom, Japan and the United States with the initial launch scheduled for this fall, with many other countries finding this available in the spring.

This Kinect technology is amazing and will probably be the springboard of what the future holds in regards to games for Kinect and for entertainment as a whole.  This is something I highly suggest you get.

Kinect is a brand new way to play video games.  It is a camera accessory for the Xbox 360 made by Microsoft.  You will now be able to play video games by just moving your body around.  You will not need to learn button combinations on a controller, you will not need a special board or a mat, and you don’t even need a remote that you move around.  If you can move your body then you will be able to play Kinect.  This is great for kids because a lot of kids are not able to play video games because they cannot figure out how to push all of the right buttons, but they sure do know how to move their body.  Getting kids to be active while playing video games will also help to curb childhood obesity rates.  There are a few Kinect games for kids that are specifically focused to them, and here are a few of them:

Kinectimals is the ultimate kid game because you will be able to to have your own virtual pet.  When you first start the game you will go through and pick which animal you want to be your pet, then you start to pet it.  Just move your arms like you are petting the animal, and it will mimic you on screen and the animal will react.  Then, you can teach it to do new tricks using voice recognition as well as modeling the new tricks for the pet.

Kinect Joy Ride is a car driving game that you can play by simply turning the steering (imaginary) and leaning ito the turns to go faster around the turns.  Any kids can pick this game right up and start playing it.  There are other Kinect games like Kinect Star Wars that will be fun for kids to play as well.
