When expectant parents learn that a little boy is on the way, most can hardly wait to begin decorating the nursery.  Let’s face it, it is hard to wait once the soon-to-be moms and dads know the gender of the bundle of joy that is about to arrive.

Baby boy bedding no longer has to be just baby blue or in the camouflage pattern to show his masculinity.  Designers and manufacturers have realized that parents-to-be are willing to spend more money than ever before decorating the nursery.  Needless to say, this has caused the industry to explode with colors and patterns.  More than ever before the options for designs is almost endless.  In fact, parents often have a difficult time settling on a pattern or theme.

Whether the new parents are more traditional in their tastes or ready to move to a more modern design when it comes to selecting a crib set, one theme has remained tried and true.  That’s Winnie the Pooh.  Knowing that most parents grew up with Pooh Bear, designers have capitalized on the familiar.  After all, Dora the Explorer has only been on the scene for ten years.  First time parents may not be familiar with her.  But, everyone knows and loves Pooh.

Pooh bedding can be found in the more traditional styles, reminiscent of the parents’ childhood.  Or, parents can select from an updated version of the Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore.  Whichever the parents decide upon, Pooh is always welcoming when found in the nursery.

The more traditional style of Pooh designs display a pattern of the basic characters in a simplistic, almost cartoon style.  The colors remind us of the days when the Crayola box included no more than 16 colors.  Everything about the classic design will make mom and dad as comfortable in the nursery as the newborn.

For parents who choose the lovable characters but prefer a more present day look, they will not be disappointed.  There are designs with Pooh bedding and the “hunny pot” in the basic color scheme with softer pastel colors for the background.   Little has changed about the bear.  However, the background and the scenery has been updated to allow more color options when decorating.

Whether the selection is the “old” Pooh or the “new” Pooh, there is one thing for certain.  The bear and his buddies are still a favorite for nursery bedding and decor.
